Product Description
The object of the following essays is to put before the reader some of the most important Messianic passages of the Old Testament, as specimens and illustrations of the several systems of interpretation,—the Jewish and the Rationalistic, which are closely allied to each other and the orthodox, which is antagonistic to both.
The true solution of the several problems proposed, is sought by the process of a fair examination of the evidence furnished by MSS, by a careful weighing of the grammatical and contextual requirements, by an appeal to the leading versions of antiquity, and by an unprejudiced comparison of the text under consideration with parallel passages in Scripture, where the same doctrine seems to be treated of.
